Traktor Kontrol X1- First ‘hands on’ video

traktor kontrol x1 synergy portmanIt can occasionally be a bit of a bummer living a considerable distance away from our great metropolis, proven by the fact that I sometimes miss ‘exclusive debuts’ of gear such as the super cool Traktor Kontrol X1 which was premiered in London yesterday. Ben Scully of DV’s Synergy Music Computer team however, didn’t and took down a video camera to film Traktor Pro  being stroked and teased by the Kontrol X1 - and thence followed the ‘oohs and arr’s’ from the assembled masses. A quick email quote from ‘Synergy Ben’ describes the Kontrol X1 from a hands on perspective:

“The first four rotarys at the top are pitted dials (think ‘panners’)  The bottom two dials are click wheels, and their main function is for browsing your tracks.  As well as full rotary they are also push buttons, so when you’ve got your track up you push it down and then it’s loaded into your deck. You can see when i pull main focus on the screen for the second time on the top right our man is controlling chained FX.  See the rotary turn and punching it in and out”

So, the rather desirable and very affordable Traktor Kontrol X1 is due, to you dear customer, in January, 2010 (with a new version of Traktor specifically optimised for it coming soon too) - absolutely spiffing!

NB: for the avoidance of doubt, the unit was filmed with operator using headphones so the music track is overdubbed to replace room ambient noise
