Billy Gibbons and Pearly Gates Les Paul

Cool or what? Billy Gibbons is not only one of the most recognised guitar players on the planet, his Les Paul is pretty famous too. Pearly Gates, the ‘59 ‘burst he has used on nearly all the ZZ Top albums since 1970 is one of the most awaited artist tribute guitars in history.
It’s taken Gibson a long time to get round to it but the buzz is happening. We have just taken delivery of the VOS Mike Bloomfield; yes, it’s georgeous, but it will be Billy’s iconic guitar that will cause the most excitement. Gibson Custom has apparently already spent a lot of time working with the legendary guitarist to develop a limited run of Pearly Gates Les Pauls so stay tuned for a release date.
Pierre Robert from WMMR is having a live phone conversation with Billy Gibbons and well, it just so happens that Pierre asks about Pearly Gates …Billy says: “Well ‘ya know, Pearly is never too far out of my sight, and also this is the 50th anniversary of the 1959 Les Paul and Gibson will be putting out a Pearly Gates Replica very soon in 2009…It came out really well and should be out real soon”…
So there you have it from the Reverend himself. On my shopping list? You betcha!
